| Minister hands over latest equipment to LRH admn |
| PESHAWAR (PPI): The NWFP Minister for Health, Inayatullah formally handed over sophisticated medical equipments worth Rs. 35 million to the head of Cardio Vascular Surgery, Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar donated by Cross Roads International, due to his personal effort in special ceremony Thursday. The ceremony held in the premises of the hospital was also addressed by Chief Executive of the institution, Dr. Abdus Samad, Dr. Hafizullah, Dr. Arshad Javed and Dr. Riaz Anwar. The Health Minister while appreciating the excellent performance of the team of Cardio Vascular Surgeons disclosed that a separate block would be constructed for the discipline with the coordination of Workers Welfare Board. He went on to say that potentials of the experts of a certain disciplined under government patronage could lead towards glorious position. He said that development of education and health sectors was top most priorities of the present government and all the available resources would be utilized to give boost to these important sectors. He asked the doctors to bring positive change in their behaviour towards patients and serve the ailing huminity them with devotion. Lauding the role of Fahad Aziz and Samad Wazir in materializing medical equipments for the hospital, the Health Minister said that there was no scarcity of potential and zeal in the country. “How ever it needs to be channelized”, he remarked. Appreciating the services being provided by Lady Reading Hospital to the ailing people, he directed concerned the authorities for chalking out a phased wise comprehensive plan for improvement of the hospital. He also promised that amount for this purpose would be allocated in the next ADP. Taking strong exception to non-cordial attitude of Class IV employees with patients, the Minister directed for terminating employees found guilty of such behaviour. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Riaz Anwar lauded Provincial Health Minister for his personal efforts and some overseas Pakistanis for getting latest equipments for the department. Elaborating performance of the Cardio Vascular Surgery Unit, Dr. Riaz said that apart from examining 4570 out door patients, 253 cardio surgical and 457 cardio vascular operations were done in the unit during the current year. Patients from other parts of the country were rushing to the unit for complicated cardiac surgeries”, he asserted. The Cardio Surgeon demand more funds, equipments and staff to meet the needs of the increasing number of patients. Prof. Hafizullah, Head of Cardiology Department and Dr. Arshad Javed, Dean PGMI also lauded the exemplary performance of the Cardio Vascular Surgery Unit. Later on the Health Minister awarded shields to the members of the Cross Roads International and some Overseas Pakistanis for helping in provision of surgical equipments. |
